Nurturing Tomorrow’s Leaders: Introducing Our Children’s Developmental Program

Caring for Newborns

We prioritize the well-being of both mother and baby, ensuring immediate screening and monitoring in a safe hospital setting from the moment your baby is born. If necessary, we also provide any required detoxification to ensure the safety and health of your newborn.

Once your little one is cleared and ready, they are welcomed back to the comfort of the PPW house. We provide everything they need to thrive, from diapers and wipes to formula, bottles, and clothing. Knowing that our program covers every detail gives you peace of mind during this crucial time.

We understand that balancing therapy can be challenging and time-consuming, which is why we have developed a full-day nursery program to support your recovery journey. Our nursery provides a safe and nurturing environment for your child, allowing you to focus on your own well-being and healing process.

Nurturing Little Ones: Infants and Toddlers on their Journey

The daycare center, seamlessly integrated within the Ness Center’s Pregnant and Postpartum Women’s substance use and detox program, provides a safe and nurturing environment for infants and toddlers during therapy hours. This allows mothers to attend appointments with peace of mind, knowing their children are well-cared for.

Upon completing appointments, mothers can conveniently pick up their child and return to the PPW House for a seamless transition that keeps them connected with their children throughout the program. Additionally, this smooth transition enables mothers to spend quality time with their children in the dedicated outdoor space at the PPW House. Equipped with amenities such as strollers, swings, and a walking area, mothers can engage in outdoor activities with their children while enjoying the fresh air.

Sweet Little Explorers: Supporting Growth and Development for Ages 3-5

This program is designed for children aged 3-5 and operates during therapy hours, aligning with a typical work schedule. Modeled after a traditional nursery program, it meets standards of early childhood development and incorporates therapeutic modalities to specifically address children of parents with substance use disorder and its repercussions. It is an essential component of our program, allowing you to fully focus on your appointments, knowing that your children are well cared for in a safe and nurturing environment.

Step into our thoughtfully curated outdoor space and enjoy a walking area that provides the perfect setting for strolls with your little ones, creating unforgettable memories along the way. You can also enjoy thoughtful amenities such as strollers and swings, specially tailored for children of all ages. Our utmost priority is to create a safe and comforting atmosphere for you and your little one, allowing you to revel in the tranquility of our surroundings and cherish every moment spent together.

Brave Young Scholars: Empowering School-Aged Children on their Path to Recovery

For moms with kids aged 6-13, our program offers comprehensive assistance.  We work closely with local schools to enroll children, assist with transportation, and provide packed lunches. Understanding the specific socio-emotional needs of this age group, we create program modalities tailored to address their changing and age-appropriate needs.

Emotional support is crucial for tweens as they navigate changes and the program aims to support them as they understand the effects of addiction on themselves and their families. Family therapy sessions are a key component of the program creating a safe space to address any issues collectively, to heal and grow.

We also offer stress management workshops and life skills to reduce any stress or trauma from having a parent with a substance use disorder. Homework support and afterschool enrichment programs are available in our shared library and community gathering spaces, aiming to enhance children’s well-being and development. Outdoors, a dedicated playground and recreation area provide a safe space for children to play, make friends, and foster emotional development.

Rising Stars: Guiding Children into Independence for Children age 13-18

While children aged 13 and older cannot reside in the PPW home, we recognize the significance of offering assistance and organization for older children. As part of a family assessment interview, our care coordinator will evaluate the suitability of children aged 13 to 18 for the adolescent IOP program. If they meet the criteria, our care coordinator will facilitate housing and transportation arrangements to guarantee they receive essential support outside the residence.

We emphasize the importance of ensuring visitation for children aged 13 and above, as it plays a crucial role in strengthening family connections. Transportation assistance is offered to facilitate visitation and attendance in family therapy sessions. Our PPW coordinator will provide continuous support to the mother, considering the overall well-being of the entire family unit, even if some members are unable to reside in the program’s facility. Qualified children can engage in family therapy to tackle any underlying issues and progress towards healing as a cohesive unit.

Our program is dedicated to supporting older children through therapeutic interventions, transportation aid, and collaboration with the ADL Coordinator and other community resources. Our objective is to ensure that the entire family receives the necessary care and support throughout the mother’s recovery journey.
